Screen Dating at CU Art Museum

Screen Dating at the CU Art Museum (May 2016)
In the age of Facebook, Tinder, and Grindr, the digital screen has become the primary relational interface. Equal parts window and barrier, the screen functions as an active mediator of social, cultural, and historical agency.

University of Colorado artists Joel Swanson and Steven Frost present an interactive installation that explores socially mediated relationships through the structure of speed-dating. Participants will interact with screen-mediated personalities built from neural-net algorithms that have been raised in captivity and hand-fed textual detritus scavenged from the internet.

Presented by the CU Art Museum, University of Colorado at Boulder, in collaboration with MediaLive 2016.
