I Can’t Even: A Pet Peeve Cemetery

As 2016 ended and 2017 began it seemed like more and more frustrating things kept piling up. Traffic jams, deaths, political unrest, jobs lost, relationships ending, gifts returned, and expectations not met. On January 7th, 2017 artists Steven Frost and Molly Jo Shea held a funeral for the public’s Pet Peeves and turned Basement Projects into a Funeral Home for people to sweat the small stuff. This installation and performance featured sculptures, costumes, installations, an organ player from LA’s famous Griffith Observatory (Rebel Without a Cause/LA LA Land) and an unforgettable final performance.

Do you have things that have been holding you down? Photos of friends now foes? Parking tickets? Hate mail? Bad 2016 purchases?
The artists helped the public create tokens of their year and participate in embalming their frustrations.
They helped people but their issues to rest.
