Untitled: Material Frequency at the Denver Art Museum

On March 30th, 2018 Steven Frost took over the Denver Art Museum for a one-night-only event. Frost’s event featured a large-scale backstrap loom workshop, live performances by Frost and local collaborators, an experimental film screening, and outstanding cocktails.

Textile designer, influential artist, and Bauhaus professor Anni Albers believed that a balance between material and concept was at the core of any creative practice. She wrote, “Being creative is not so much the desire to do something as the listening to that which wants to be done: the dictation of the materials.” It is with Albers in mind that Frost organized this evening of events and public collaborations at the Denver Art Museum.
